Raise your hand if you have ever struggled in deciding to follow your Christian calling or run after your professional career.

Hand raised? You’re not alone!

While at the University of Miami, I majored in Broadcast Journalism and double minored in Marketing and Advertising. Now, I am finishing my master’s in journalism with a focus in sports reporting, and my sights set on one day working with ESPN

Outside of the classroom, I served on several teams in my church, attended Bible studies, and led the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

I knew my abilities belonged in front of the camera but was God calling me to ministry?

What UM did not teach me was what Elaine Rau did: your faith can be merged with your work.

After taking Rau’s Grow Your Christian Blog course, I have learned practical ways I can do just that.

Rau teaches strategy and scripture, business and the Bible

As I transition from the college world post-graduation in December and into full-on adulting, I am continuing to build my own personal brand and blog. With the knowledge of this course, I am confident in walking through the new season.

Since I am still working on my website, I do not have analytics or statistics to prove there has been growth. Still, trust me. This course is incredible, and the knowledge alone of mixing side-gigs with spiritual ties can be perspective-shifting and life-changing.

So, is your interest peaked? Do you want to launch your own Christian blog? Do you want to learn how to build a business? Do you want to know how to optimize reach, impressions, and sales on social media? Do you want to see how you, too, can merge Bible and business

If so, I cannot recommend this course enough.

I do have an affiliate link, and I get commissions based off of purchases made through this link. Nonetheless, know that I will not recommend any product that I do not first try and love. I committed several hours into completing and studying this course, amidst Hurricanes Volleyball travel season, might I add! My willingness to work through the course in a hectic time of my life should further show how worthy this course is of your attention.

The course is just one click away!

You can also use my promo code: CAM.DOBBS for 20% off! That roughly makes the course only $78

I pray you are not only educated but inspired by this course. Enjoy the step-by-step videos and additional access to useful resources that allow you to start a thriving empire if you so choose!

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out!

“Old Glamour” Beats “New Glitz” as LA Galaxy Defeats Inter Miami 3-2 https://camerondobbs.com/written-stories/old-glamour-beats-new-glitz-as-la-galaxy-defeats-inter-miami-3-2/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=old-glamour-beats-new-glitz-as-la-galaxy-defeats-inter-miami-3-2 https://camerondobbs.com/written-stories/old-glamour-beats-new-glitz-as-la-galaxy-defeats-inter-miami-3-2/#respond Wed, 21 Apr 2021 14:24:00 +0000 https://camerondobbs.com/?p=247 The matchup was rich and culture alive for a historic day at the DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale as the LA Galaxy defeated Inter Miami CF 3-2.

With flags flying, Tom Brady in the stands, and Gloria Estefan’s “Conga” blasting over the loud speakers, MLS returned after the longest postseason in history.

The 8,000-person crowd was crazed and consistent — occupying the Fort Lauderdale stadium for the first time since COVID. Commissioner Don Garber joined ESPN’s broadcast at halftime, praising the fans saying, “Soccer without fans is like a sport without soul. And now the soul is returning to Major League Soccer.”

Inter Miami owner David Beckham battled against his former team while newly appointed Phil Neville premiered in his coaching debut of a senior club game.

Neville dubbed Sunday the “biggest day of [his] career.” After the game, Neville said, “It was everything more than I wanted or expected. And I’ve got to say I loved every single minute of it, apart from the results.”

Miami was excellent in the first half playing one step ahead of LA while staying productive in play despite LA possessing the ball 69 percent of the time.

Forty-six minutes in, Gonzalo Higuaín assisted Robbie Robinson for his first senior goal of his career.

In his post-game press conference, Higuaín said the choice to pass was done so in his team mindset, saying, “The group always goes above the individuals. He was [in a] better position than myself.”

After halftime, Miami’s momentum fell as the heat and fatigue grew. “Chicharito” Javier Hernández — a former product of Neville who has not scored double digits in over 4 seasons — started his season strong by scoring two goals for the Galaxy.

Higuaín put Miami back in front on a Penalty Kick as smoke bombs exploded in the stands in celebration. Higuaín played more conservative than usual, and in the first 19 minutes, only touched the ball twice.

Galaxy players moved on quickly after Higuaín tied the game, motivating each other into the final minutes.

Sacha Kljestan scored the final goal, pushing past Miami to win.

For Miami, with Higuaín and Robinson playing as a dynamic duo, Neville sees success throughout the season.

Neville has been working closely with Robinson and says he has “big potential.”

Despite the loss, Neville held his head high and said, “It is going to be a long road… Today was a bump, but I think we showed some good signs today that we can have success.”

Miami travels to play Philadelphia Union on Saturday at 8 p.m.

With Sunday’s win, the LA Galaxy broke its 5-game losing streak on the road and will play at home on Sunday against the NY Red Bulls.

San Francisco Giants Stop Sweep in South Florida https://camerondobbs.com/written-stories/san-francisco-giants-stop-sweep-in-south-florida/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=san-francisco-giants-stop-sweep-in-south-florida https://camerondobbs.com/written-stories/san-francisco-giants-stop-sweep-in-south-florida/#respond Sun, 18 Apr 2021 14:22:00 +0000 https://camerondobbs.com/?p=245 The San Francisco Giants beat the Miami Marlins 1-0 on Sunday, to prevent a series sweep in South Florida at loanDepot Park.

With 6,129 in attendance in a spread-out crowd with sporadic applause, the stadium sat at a cool 72 degrees, but the pitchers were bringing the heat with eight scoreless innings.

San Francisco’s Alex Wood started pitching for the first time since being reinstated from the 10-day Injury List after undergoing a back procedure. He pitched five scoreless innings, giving up three hits, and had four strikeouts.

Miami’s Jorge Lopez pitched nine strikeouts in six innings and gave up one unearned run.

The Giants run came after an error by Jesus Aguilar to allow for a base hit at the top of the third.

“You can’t win if you don’t score,” Manager Don Mattingly said. On top of scoreless innings, he says his team “threw a couple opportunities away.” Miami had no runs, three hits, and two errors on the night.

Miguel Rojas’ throwing of his bat after getting out on a pop fly showed the frustration the Marlins were met with.

The loss comes after a quick turnaround from Saturday night’s extra innings and 7-6 walk-off victory for the Marlins when Catcher Jorge Alfaro hit a double, defending home field and securing the second game of the series. On Friday, the Marlins won 4-1.

Alfaro sat out for the last game of the series, besides one opportunity at bat which resulted in the final out of the game when he came in as a pinch hitter for Starling Marte after Marte endured an arm injury pulling him from the plate.

Being an influential veteran on the team, the team said Marte’s potential absence from the team is concerning.

Mattingly said, Marte is a “big part of what we do with quality on offense, defense, and on the bases. We don’t have a replacement for that.”

Immediately after the game, Lopez was seen running on the elliptical flushing away his extra active adrenaline, and likely the loss as well.

Lopez says despite the loss in the last game of the series, the team should, “Go with our head high… and continue to focus on winning series.”

The Marlins look for redemption at home against Baltimore Tuesday at 6:40 p.m. while the Giants head to Philadelphia to play the Phillies at 7 p.m. The teams meet again to play this Thursday at 3 p.m. in San Francisco.

Greek Freak Pushes Past Special Kei, Advances to Miami Open Round Four https://camerondobbs.com/written-stories/greek-freak-pushes-past-special-kei-advances-to-miami-open-round-four/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=greek-freak-pushes-past-special-kei-advances-to-miami-open-round-four https://camerondobbs.com/written-stories/greek-freak-pushes-past-special-kei-advances-to-miami-open-round-four/#respond Mon, 29 Mar 2021 14:20:00 +0000 https://camerondobbs.com/?p=242 No. 2 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas defeated No. 28 seed Kei Nishikori of Japan 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 on a humid night next to Hard Rock Stadium in the third round of the Miami Open.

To start the match, Tsitsipas walked in to the nearly empty arena and over to his bench pulling out three water bottles, a tell-tale sign of the 78-degree South Florida heat. Throughout the match Tsitsipas’s sweat dripped from his flowing locks and yellow headband to his white Adidas shoes. Nishikori, on the other hand, appeared conditioned to the climate after training in Florida since he was young.

This match is the second meeting for the pair. In 2018, Nishikori, then ranked fourth in the world, won in straight sets at the Rakuten Japan Open Tennis Championship quarterfinals.

This time, however, the odds were in favor of rising tennis talent Tsitsipas, who has advanced to quarters or better at all four events this year.

The 22-year-old took control early in the match, dominating Nishikori the first set 6-3.

In the second set, a valiant effort from the veteran tallies a set win for Nishikori 6-3. The Japanese native capitalized on taking the ball early, forcing Tsitsipas to make errors off the frame of his racket and take the majority of his shots off balance.

Before set three, Nishikori takes a short trip to the locker room but leaves behind his momentum when he returns to the deciding set.

Tsitsipas emphasized the importance of finishing strong, saying, “[I was] always pumped [and] willing to put more and more work towards the end of the match, and that made the difference.”

Clearly, it did. Tsitsipas quickly led 3-0.

The variance of the two athletes’ endurance and attitude was vital in Tsitsipas’s victory — Nishikori drastically faded, dropping 8 mph on his second serves, losing long rallies, and ultimately coming up short of the 6-foot-4 superstar.

Tsitsipas is thrilled to advance in the tournament, representing Greece at a high level. When asked his thoughts on putting his home country on the map for tennis, he smiled, saying, “Hell yeah.” Tsitsipas is embracing the opportunity to be a trailblazer, aiming to create history and see Greece known not only their soccer players but tennis players, too.

Tsitsipas is set to play Italian Lorenzo Sonego Tuesday, March 30th, at 7 p.m. in the fourth round of the Miami Open.

Meyers Leonard: Built by Hardship and Living Glass Half Full… and Then Some https://camerondobbs.com/written-stories/meyers-leonard-built-by-hardship-and-living-glass-half-full-and-then-some/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=meyers-leonard-built-by-hardship-and-living-glass-half-full-and-then-some https://camerondobbs.com/written-stories/meyers-leonard-built-by-hardship-and-living-glass-half-full-and-then-some/#respond Tue, 23 Feb 2021 14:17:00 +0000 https://camerondobbs.com/?p=239 “I’m so darn blessed in my life,” Heat Forward-Center Meyers Leonard says while sitting behind the computer screen of a virtual zoom call, wearing a mask, and holding up his injured arm in a sling.

His positivity is unmatched. His kindness unparalleled. When Leonard says he aims to “Give everybody my all,” he means everybody.

The basketball star spent time eagerly answering questions well past midnight in a private press conference with University of Miami students after the Heat’s 108-94 road win over the Oklahoma City Thunder. Despite being excited to return home after a seven-game road trip, season ending injury, and time away from his team for surgery, Leonard’s attention was fully focused on the call.

Leonard lives and dies by two things: his character and his work ethic.

“I have to give back; I have to be a positive impact,” the seven-footer says with urgency, “I got wide shoulders for a reason. I’m carrying everyone with me.”

Leonard finds his voice to be a “cheat code” elevating his leadership on and off the court — one reason why he thinks the Heat signed him in the first place.

When asked what his teammates would describe him as, he bluntly answered, “One energetic S.O.B.” Though he laughed, saying he was kidding, it was clear the title had truth to it.

Leonard’s commitment to positivity never wavers. True character, he says, is defined through adversity, something he is all too familiar with.

Leonard learned to “smile through adversity” at a young age. As a kid, his family faced the passing of his father and extreme financial struggles. “I think about sleeping on the floor, no electricity, no running water.” Leonard remembers driving up to practices with squeaky cars and dripping oil, embarrassed.

When he joined the NBA, he had all he ever dreamed of: a beautiful wife, millions of dollars, his dream job, and the nicest of cars. However, Leonard was not happy, and he struggled with anxiety and depression.

As the 2021 season began, Leonard was battling to get back into the rotation. In January, he injured his shoulder. Sitting in his car after hearing the season-ending diagnosis, Leonard says, “Tears just started pouring out of my eyes. It was like a shower.”

Nonetheless, Leonard says his glass remains half full, plus some. Playing the game he loves for a living, he says he doesn’t understand “why that’s not the norm.”

Now, nine years in the NBA, Leonard says in awe, “It blows my mind how blessed I’ve been.”

Sidelined all season, Leonard could not be more confident that he is in the right place. He is committed to his crew in the 305.

“Coming here made sense because of who I am right here,” he says tapping at his heart. “I love it here.”

Even on a Zoom-quality call, his eyes lit up as he talked about his love for the Miami Heat. Leonard admires the values of the organization, the people, and how they give back amidst adversity.

In a 2021 season that is full of injury plagues and predicaments for the reigning runner ups, Head Coach Erik Spoelstra encourages the team saying, “Shooters keep shooting.” The mantra of perseverance personifies Meyers Leonard.

What’s next for Leonard? The recent purchase of a $7.75 million home may give it away. If it is up to Leonard, his next season will be spent again in South Florida with his wife, Elle, and their two-year-old Siberian Husky, Koko.

In the meantime, Leonard promises this, “I will give everything I have to the city of Miami and this organization in whatever way I can. That’s what I’ll continue to do.”

Around 12:30 a.m. Leonard hurriedly stepped away from the call to catch his flight home to Miami. He yells back to the computer as he is dragged out the door, “If you need something, please get it to Tim. I will answer your question. I promise you. I will. Thank you so much for everything. It was a pleasure.”

Whether it is his teammates, his community, or random students from the University of Miami — Meyers Leonard cares for all.

Colleges Cutting Athletes’ Education Opportunities https://camerondobbs.com/written-stories/colleges-cutting-athletes-education-opportunities/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=colleges-cutting-athletes-education-opportunities https://camerondobbs.com/written-stories/colleges-cutting-athletes-education-opportunities/#respond Tue, 01 Dec 2020 16:38:07 +0000 http://camerondobbs.com/?p=204 Universities across the nation are cutting Olympic sports programs as a last-ditch effort to save money. For athletes, this loss is much more than a cancelled collegiate career.

Clemson University Men’s Track and Field alumnus Darron Coley speaks on the shocking reality of the cutting of the men’s track and field and cross country programs. He says, “All those friendships and relationships you’ve been able to create? They’re gone. All these people that you see walking around in the athletic facilities and tutoring rooms? Cancel them out. They’re gone.

Ridding of these programs is ridding of the opportunity to earn a college degree for many athletes.

After the announcement to discontinue the teams, Clemson released a statement saying the university would continue paying out the scholarships of current athletes and offer help to those who wish to transfer. As for the future college commits, they are left stranded with no scholarship, no team, and no opportunity to further their education.

Coley credits his education to his college career. He says, “I had never been in the state of South Carolina until my official visit to Clemson. I never would have ended up here had it not been for the track and field team and for coach Elliott giving me a shot to run on the program.”

As an NCAA Division I track and field program, Clemson’s team has an average of 39 members on the team. The team receives 12.6 scholarships per year that can be split between 20 athletes.

Now, in 2021, there will be 20 fewer athletes getting a free education. Even further, NCAA Men’s Track and Field provides opportunities to over 10,000 athletes each year. The cancellation of collegiate O-sports teams can drastically diminish this. The harrowing question remains, “Who’s next?”

From Clemson to Coral Gables, the aftershock is hitting the Hurricanes. The current climb of COVID cases could be fatal for the future of Olympic sports. Women’s soccer player Taylor Shell fears for her future at The U, “It hurts as an athlete now to see that I could be the next program to be cut.”

Look at a visual story related to the cutting of Olympic sports teams here.

In 2020, the gesture is appreciated more than ever. Across the nation, college sports are not immune to the effects of COVID-19. In a desperate attempt by athletic departments to stay afloat, Olympic Sports are the first to go.

To date, hundreds of NCAA Programs have been cut or suspended in 2020.

This comes as no surprise to many. Olympic Sports have been shadowed by big ticket sports such as football, basketball and baseball for years.

In the minds of athletes everywhere, one question is left…“Who’s next?”

Freely Exploring and Privately Browsing https://camerondobbs.com/uncategorized/freely-exploring-and-privately-browsing/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=freely-exploring-and-privately-browsing https://camerondobbs.com/uncategorized/freely-exploring-and-privately-browsing/#respond Sat, 31 Oct 2020 21:37:20 +0000 http://camerondobbs.com/?p=113 Relays between my browser and the web

Using the Tor Browser allows for free and private exploring on the web. To test this theory, I first typed in the DuckDuckGo search bar, “What is my ip?” The results showed, “Your IP address is unavailable.” However, in Google’s search bar in a public browser, my public IP address did display.

Tor does more than keeping your search private. It lets you explore freely by allowing you to search sites that cannot be seen on the web. ProPublica being one. The journalism site aims to “expose abuses of power” and more — embracing the watchdog identity of the press.

Rise Up is another site seen through Tor’s browser. This network aids people aiming to “work on liberatory social change.”

Another interesting site Tor supports — the CIA. With the label, “The work of a nation,” it is odd they are not easily available to the nation.

All three sites offer beneficial information to the American public. However, when searched for on a public browser, the only result is an error. It alarming to see they are not available unless found on a private browser.

Another difference I found between using Tor and a public browser was a slightly slower loading time.
